In the 19th century, the founder of the Holy Cross Congregation, Blessed Basile Moreau insisted a great deal on the spirit of unity in order for the three societies of priests, brothers and sisters to live and collaborate as a family, the Holy Cross Family. He gave them as a model the Holy Family of Nazareth and particularly favored "the devotion to the three hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph".

3 Coeurs enflammés            In Quebec, when the first fifteen religious men and women arrived in Canada, they found the devotion to the Holy Family well established here.  In Quebec, all children had always been in the habit of putting at the top of every page the capital letters JMJ on the left and the date on the right. This rule lasted until the middle of the 20th century.

It was at this time that the Church asked the Congregation Holy Cross to ensure that the devotion to Saint Joseph did not diminish the devotion to Jesus and Mary. This "devotion to the three hearts" has therefore been abandoned. However, in recent decades there has been a revival of devotion to Saint Joseph, notably by adding his name first to the First Eucharistic Prayer (as desired by Pope John XXIII) and then to all Eucharistic prayers (according to the desire of Pope Francis).

On the other hand, following recent apparitions of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in Brazil in 1994, the Bishop of the Diocese of Itapiranga, Monsignor Carillo Gritti, who recognized the supernatural origin of these apparitions in 2009, devotion to the heart of Saint Joseph began to blossom again. On June 6, 1997, there was the message of Jesus to Pope John Paul II; "I want the first Wednesday after the feasts of the Sacred Heart  and the Immaculate Heart of My Mother, to be instituted the feast in honor of the very chaste Heart of Saint Joseph." Then there was the message of Our Lady: "God wants St. Joseph to be glorified by all men in a special way, because He is the one who has been proclaimed Patron Saint of the Universal Church and because the Church is attacked today, we must resort to St. Joseph to defend it. I tell you, my children, our three hearts will triumph!"

Finally, the following year, there was the message of Saint Joseph: "Satan desires to destroy the image of God present in every human being! It is for this reason that God asks all mankind for devotion to my very chaste Heart, because He desires to grant men the grace to overcome the temptations and daily attacks of the devil..." Saint Joseph also stated that his promises of help and protection were first and foremost about impurity.3 Coeurs unis

The devotion to Saint Joseph's very chaste and pure Heart responds today to an urgent need to have a major intercessor to help and value, with strength and gentleness, men in their role as men, husbands and fathers and in the fight against all the demons of impurity that ravage the population in general and young people in particular.

As part of a revival of the Feast of the Three Hearts, a small committee was formed three years ago and this year this committee will hold a mass in honor of Saint Joseph's very chaste and pure Heart, on Wednesday July 3rd, 2019, following the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart on Friday June 28 and the Memory of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Saturday, June 29 (which we cannot celebrate this year, to make room for the Solemnity of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul). The celebration, led by the Myriam Family, will take place at the chapel of Saint Brother André, in the basilica of Saint Joseph's Oratory, at 1:30 pm, preceded by a Holy Hour of Prayer.

When this celebration in honor of the very chaste and pure Heart of Saint Joseph will become really popular, the directors of Saint Joseph's Oratory open to consider that the mass could take place in the crypt and at the time of the ordinary mass and eventually become a diocesan feast.

1 Our Father, 10 Hail Joseph and 1 Glory be.

« Hail Joseph, Son of David, the just and the chaste, wisdom is with you; blessed are you among all men and blessed is Jesus, the fruit of Mary, your faithful spouse.

Holy Joseph, worthy foster-father and guardian of Jesus Christ and of the holy Church pray for us sinners and obtain divine Wisdom for us from God, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."

4. St. Joseph, by your sorrow and joy at the prophecy of Simeon, be my guide through life and dead.

5. St. Joseph, by your sorrow and joy at the flight into Egypt, be my guide through life and dead.

6. St. Joseph, by your sorrow and joy at the return from Egypt, be my guide through life and dead.

7. St. Joseph, by your sorrow and joy at the loss and finding of the child Jesus in the temple, be my guide through life and dead.

4) Consecration to the three Sacred Hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph

"Sacred Heart of Jesus, Immaculate Heart of Mary and Chaste Heart of St. Joseph, I consecrate to you this day my mind, my words, my body, my heart and soul, so that your will be done through me this day. Amen.

5) Consecration to the Most Chaste Heart of St. Joseph

"Most Chaste Heart of Saint Joseph, protect and defend my family against every evil and danger. Most Chaste Heart of Saint Joseph, pour on all humanity the graces and virtues of your most chaste heart.

Saint Joseph, I really entrust myself to you. I consecrated to you my soul and my body, my heart and all my life. Saint Joseph, defend the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

With the graces of your most chaste heart, destroy the plans of Satan, bless the entire Holy Church, the Pope, the Bishops and Priests of the whole world.

We consign ourselves to you with love and trust, now and forever. Amen."
